INCUBATING SUCCESS: A COMPREHENSIVE ANALYSIS OF THE BUSINESS INCUBATOR MODEL FOSTERING ENTREPRENEURSHIP AT BINDURA UNIVERSITY
Main Article Content
Abstract
Zimbabwe faces significant challenges such as a high unemployment rate and widespread poverty. The unemployment rate increased to 11.3% in 2016, and a substantial portion of the population lived on less than $1.9 per day in 2011. Graduates, particularly from universities like Bindura University of Science Education (BUSE), struggle to secure employment and often lack the entrepreneurial skills required for self-employment. BUSE aims to address this issue by developing a Business Incubator Model to transform into an entrepreneurial university, generate additional revenue, create job opportunities, and contribute to the nation's socio-economic development in line with the Zimbabwe Agenda for Sustainable Socio-Economic Transformation (Zim-ASSET).
This paper explores BUSE's endeavor to establish a Business Incubator Model as part of the solution to the country's unemployment and underutilization of resources. By implementing this initiative, BUSE seeks to provide practical solutions and support entrepreneurs by offering expertise, networks, and tools necessary for their success.
