Abstract
Germany's constitutional legal framework mandates the federal government to safeguard the well-being of its citizens through social policies. This obligation is rooted in historical and socioeconomic factors, shaping the country's approach to social policy. By delving into the etymology of social policy in Germany, this study explores its evolution, intervention methods, and structural specifics. It distinguishes between terms such as "social state," "welfare state," "social administration," and "Wohlfahrtsstaat," shedding light on the diverse models and operational characteristics they represent. This investigation provides insights into how Germany's social policies have adapted to historical conditions and continue to offer relative security against various hazards.
