THE INFLUENCE OF EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT ON THE EFFECTIVENESS OF TOTAL QUALITY MANAGEMENT: EVIDENCE FROM GOD IS GOOD (GIG) LOGISTICS NIGERIA

Abstract

The study is to examine the influence of employee engagement on the effectiveness of Total Quality Management in GIG Logistics Nigeria. The objectives are: to evaluate the effect of recognition and reward systems on the effectiveness of Total Quality Management and to assess the impact of communication effectiveness on the effectiveness of Total Quality Management in GIG Logistics Nigeria. The study adopts a cross-sectional survey design. The population consists of 60 employees across the selected centres. The study covered the entire population of 60 employees in the selected GIG Logistics branches, using the Census Method since the population is small and manageable. A structured questionnaire based on a 5-point Likert scale was used as the instrument for data collection. Data was analysed using descriptive statistics (mean, standard deviation, frequency) to summarise responses, and multiple regression was used to test effects of employee engagement on TQM effectiveness. The Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 26 was used for analysis at a 0.05 significance level. The result of the study revealed that recognition and reward systems have a significant positive effect on the effectiveness of TQM in GIG Logistics Nigeria and that communication effectiveness has a significant positive impact on the effectiveness of TQM in GIG Logistics Nigeria. it was concluded that employee engagement is a vital driver of quality management, as it ensures employees are not only motivated but also well-informed and actively involved in quality initiatives It was recommended among other things that GIG Logistics should design and implement robust recognition and reward frameworks that acknowledge individual and team contributions to quality improvement. Such initiatives will sustain motivation, reinforce desired behaviors, and enhance commitment to organizational quality objectives
